CROWNS & BRIDGES
Crowns, commonly known as “caps,” are utilized to fill a gap or damaged tooth in order to restore the once functional tooth with it’s original, useful purpose and aesthetic. The natural tooth, or remainder of a chipped or damaged tooth, is remodeled by removing the damaged or decaying area and replacing it with a natural looking crown that mimics a real tooth.

If you have undergone a root canal, have missing teeth, or dental implants, a crown may be used to replace these deficits. Traditional crowns were made of gold and porcelain, attaching the modeled crown to a strong, gold base. However, new technology has shifted towards using porcelain and highly durable ceramic, allowing for excellent color and texture matching. Another plus is that the new technology allows our dental professionals to often complete the crown process in one visit, versus the old traditional two-visit crown process!
No matter what material is utilized for your crown, you can rest assured that you are receiving the highest quality service and technology while at Mexico Dental Team. We guarantee that you will love your new crown. It will be so naturally placed that you won’t even feel it.
Why Would I Need a Dental Crown?
- Rotting teeth.
- Chipped or damaged teeth.
- Gap in the smile due to missing teeth.
- For placement over a dental implant.
- A more comfortable potential option in replacement of dentures.
- To give your jawline and cheeks a more full and aesthetically pleasing look if missing teeth.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are used to close gaps between teeth, “bridging” them together to create a more aesthetically pleasing and functional smile. Crowns are utilized on the two existing teeth on either side of the gap, and a false tooth is placed in between in order to bridge the gap, depending on how many teeth are missing, or how separated the teeth are. The center false tooth, or teeth, are called pontics. Various materials can be utilized to create the pontic, including; porcelain, alloys, gold, or combination materials that are held in place by an implant or the existing natural teeth.
While some clients opt for dental bridges for aesthetic purposes, bridges are useful for a variety of important functions as well! Gaps in the teeth can cause problems when chewing, speaking, and cause other teeth in the jawline to shift. Allow our dental team to create a personalized treatment plan, choosing which dental bridge would be perfect for your needs. The highly trained team at Mexico Dental Team can provide you with the comfortable, functional, gorgeous teeth you’ve always wanted, and ensure that you get years of hassle-free use out of your new smile.
Traditional Bridges
This is the most commonly utilized bridge type. A crown is placed on either side of the gap and a porcelain pontic is attached to metal or ceramic in order to replace the missing tooth.
Zirconia Bridges
Using highly durable zirconium dental ceramic, this high quality bridge does not create the potential gray discoloration around the edge of the tooth, as sometimes seen with traditional bridges. The client may experience less tooth sensitivity than with traditional bridges, and they very rarely cause allergic reactions.
Maryland Bonded Bridges
Utilizing a false tooth, a metal wing framework is attached to the back of the bridge. The false tooth is placed in the gap and the metal wings are bonded to the teeth on either side of the gap.
Cantilever Bridges
These bridges are least commonly used, and utilize a similar system to that of a traditional bridge. These bridges are only used in the event that there are no neighboring teeth, or only one neighboring tooth to the gap that will be filled.
